| Line-boring the mains on a block that already has a compromised cylinder isn't going to be the most cost effective way to correct your problem. Also, your consideration of line-boring the block and then using the thicker OEM bearings wont work. Here's why: The bearings that nissan provides as their "oversize" or "undersize", however you want to look at it, is solely for repairing damage that the crankshaft suffers. This repair would be by way of regrinding the crank journals. The bearings Nissan has available have the same o.d. as the standard bearings, however, the i.d. of the bearings is smaller to make up for the material that was ground away from the crank journal. If you line bore your block and try to use the oversize bearings to make an unmodified crank fit, those bearings will not properly seat into block's journals. Since you already have obtained a replacement crank in good condition, simply purchase another good used block that you can bore/hone for your pistons. You can get a good used block for rather cheap and you'll be a lot further along in the long run and you will be able to use OEM bearings within the standard grade ranges to sinch your tolerances properly. Boring is typically $5 per hole and honing is typically $10 per hole. So $90 there. Then also have the block hot-tanked/cleaned for ~$20 and have the deck inspected for flatness. If it is within tolerance, you are good to go. If not, having the block decked shouldn't be any more than $60. I really strongly recommend that you dont try to salvage your current block. You are going to introduce many more elements into the situation that are only going to increase the probability of failure. These engines are "sensitive" WRT tolerances - you HAVE to get it right or else do not expect it to stay together very long. Wasting your patience on trying to salvage your block will take away from the patience you need to focus with on getting all of your bearing tolerances correct and properly assembling the engine. Keep your engine build processes as simple as possible and stick to processes which have been tried and proven to work. As far as my memory can recall, I dont know of even a single case where someone has done what you are proposing to do. That doesn't mean it wont work, but if you go that route, consider yourself a guinea pig and expect it to fail - meanwhile, we will watch to see if it works or not and get the jury together at a later date. :)
